Spring 2021 poster competition

Call for entries now open

We are looking for interesting case reports or research presentations for our online pre-BSAVA Congress meeting, to be held on Wednesday 24th March 2021. Our goal is to allow more people an opportunity to share experiences with colleagues.

We would request all candidates record a three-minute poster pitch presentation and a digital poster.

Three-minute PowerPoint presentation

The three-minute presentation should made using Microsoft PowerPoint and recorded using Microsoft PowerPoint record narration function. This presentation might involve offering results and the highlights of the poster, or a ‘teaser’ presentation, whereby information is given regarding the case report or research project but the main conclusions are not. A maximum of one title slide and three additional PowerPoint slides can be used during this presentation. We would encourage the use of illustrations/figures.

 

Digital posters

Posters can be in portrait or landscape orientation. The poster header should include title, author(s), and disclose any conflict of interest and details of funding.

For case reports, the poster should be broken down into the following sections:

• Abstract
• Introduction
• Case history and
• Physical examination and finding of diagnostic tests
• Diagnosis
• Discussion and conclusions
• References.

For research projects, the poster should be broken down into the following sections:

• Abstract
• Introduction
• Materials and methods
• Results
• Discussion and conclusions
• References

Posters will be made available for delegates to view on the day of the meeting on the SAMSoc website.

Prizes

The winner will receive a prize of £250, and two runners up will each receive £100.

Judging

We will select the best presentations to be delivered to meeting delegates, up to a maximum of 8. The primary author must be in attendance at the online meeting to reply to any questions regarding their poster presentation. The winning entries will be selected using a voting system by delegates.
